A Massachusetts State Judge has has agreed to dismiss all claims by Sunshine Travel against Chinese Progressive Association Boston except for a claim regarding the unauthorized use of the trademark or logo (on a flyer). The judge agreed with CPA's contention that Sunshine Travel's lawsuit was intended to intimidate and silence critics. State law, under the the anti-Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation ("SLAPP") legislation, protects such protest and criticism. CPA's legal team from Greater Boston Legal Services is figuring out next steps.
CPA has been working with Sunshine Travel bus drivers against abuse of labor laws and a cut in pay, when Sunshine Travel sued them for their efforts.
